STEMSOFT

  • STEMSOFT – Empowering STEM candidates for employability and entrepreneurship with enhanced non-technical soft and transversal skills

  • Duration: 2021-2023 
  • Objectives:
    The project aims at preparing STEM candidates with non-technical skills such as critical thinking, idea generation and interdisciplinary ways of working alongside their technical hard STEM skills. The consortium comprises different work cultures and training traditions and with input from international perspectives through the range of associated partners. This STEM employability skills project aims to address this by defining relevant non-technical soft skills and transversal skills, described in an EQF/ECVET format, targeting the following groups and delivering them in different digitalized forms:
    • Migrants with a STEM background who are unemployed or underemployed
    • Mobile workers seeking employment opportunities in another country or region
    • NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) regardless of gender
    • Undergraduates or graduates with a STEM background who are finding it hard to get a STEM job due to ethnicity, disability, or gender 

People in career transitions (people without a formal STEM background wanting to move to a STEM field as an alternative career) facilitate permeability and flexible learning and training pathways.

SALEIE

  • SALEIE: Strategic Alignment of Electrical and Information Engineering in European Higher Education Institutions

  • Objectives:
    SALEIE – Strategic Alignment of Elec and Information Engineering in European Higher Education institutions set out to explore and provide models for ways in which Higher Education Institutions of Europe in the Electrical Information Engineering disciplines can respond to current challenges.
    SALEIE project objectives were to produce:
    • Model programme and module curricula for the current global technical challenging subjects;
    • Support for students with disabilities during their study and when wishing to undertake periods of study abroad through ERASM exchanges, for example;
    • Models for maximising accessibility programmes to all learners;

ELLEIEC 

  • ELLEIEC: Enhancing Lifelong Learning for the Electrical and Information Engineering Community

  • Coordination : Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (Ass. Prof Hamed YAHOUI)
  • Duration: 2008-2011
  • Objectives: The vision of the project is to advance aspects of Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE) that are not currently well developed.  The specific focus will be the skills and competencies required of the individual who aspires to establish their own business and the innovative employee who wishes to be enterprising within an existing organization within EIE. Our project will establish a virtual centre for the development of enterprise skills and competencies; investigate and report on the implementation issues and impact of LL on the employability of people all around Europe, and carry out a comparative assessment of the virtual delivery compared to conventional delivery models.  The virtual centre will connect learners of any age to a network of educators within academic institutions, business formation advisory bodies and business mentors across Europe in a way that enables skills and competence, in conjunction with foreign language skills to be enhanced.

  • Objectives:
    Reflection on generic competences and subject-specific competences in Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE)
    Implementation of quality assessment methodologies on some educational resources available in EIE
    Reflection and proposition of a methodology for accreditation, in order to enhance comparability and common certification procedures
    The proposition of a census of the existing curricula in EIE in Europe, the multinational degrees, and the situation of the implementation of the Bologna process in EIE, at the bachelor, master and PhD levels

THEIERE

  • THEIERE: Thematic Harmonisation in Electrical and Information EngineeRing in Europe
  • Type of project: ERASMUS thematic networks
  • Partners: 87 European partners. 
  • Coordination Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisboa, Portugal (Prof. Maria João MARTINS) 
  • Duration: 2000-2005
  • Objectives:
    The aims of this new thematic network are:
    • A survey concerning the available curricula in EIE (Electrical and Information Engineering) throughout the whole of Europe,
    • A reflection on the best practices of high engineering education in the specific field of Electrical and Information Engineering from a European perspective,
    • A development of pieces of curriculum and pedagogical tools available through the internet as pre-requisites to help students for mobility exchange programmes (ex: ECTS). The aim is to allow the student to prepare him/herself before going to a foreign country by acquiring the basic level, beginning to learn in a foreign language and with the foreign approach to the academic content of one particular course.
    • To enable a curricula comparison that will facilitate the transfer of knowledge between higher education institutions.

The whole aim is to get a harmonisation of the curricula in EIE throughout Europe in order to facilitate the exchanges of knowledge, among students and teachers. This harmonisation will make possible the establishment of common accreditation, crediting and certification procedures.

INEIT-MUCON

  • INEIT-MUCON: Innovations for Education in Information Technology through Multimedia and Communication Networks

  • Duration: 1996-2000
  • Objectives: The global aim of the INEIT-MUCON Thematic Network is to design, develop and disseminate web-based courses in Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE) in Higher Education and to discuss their effectiveness. The main idea consists in developing some pedagogical resources and demonstrating them using examples from the following topics:
    • Theoretical Electrical Engineering
    • Communications Technology
    • Power Systems
    • Computers
    • Sensors
    • Electronics
